Edmonton
Nice article here that extends the discussion about Tell Tale Signs. "Once he burned with revolutionary fervour, songs spilling out of a man in a hurry. Now, at age 67, he's a walking history book of the United States, keeping alive stories and musical styles that might otherwise be forgotten. His work has grace and majesty, and the breadth of his late-career resurgence is better illustrated in this collection than on any of his individual albums."

Sunday News
The following 4CD set is one to consider. It has a decade per disc orientation. Like a Rolling Stone starts off disc one and there are many more hits than misses. Some favorites include Steve Earle, Dave Alvin, The Band, Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, Jackson Browne, Sarah McLachlan, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Wilco, etc. etc.
This is a mildly interesting take from the Irish news. "A Playboy magazine interviewer once made the mistake of trying to ask Bob Dylan a serious question -- along the lines of what made him decide to go the singer-songwriter/voice of a generation route. Dylan looks at him from beneath his cowboy hat and, rather than walk out, offers a Sphinx-like answer: "Carelessness."

Behind the Shades
In rereading this excellent biography the rehearsal list of songs was telling. According to Chris Parker on Page 648 the following covers were rehearsed in 1989.
I Can See For Miles - The Who The Who: The Ultimate Collection
You Keep Me Hangin' On - the Vanilla Fudge Psychedelic Sundae: The Best of Vanilla Fudge
When or Where - Rodgers & Hart Songs of America from Another American
Mystery Train - Junior Parker Songs of America from Another American
12 volt March - (cannot identify)
Sweet Dreams of You - Patsy Cline Patsy Cline - The Definitive Collection
Walking After Midnight Volume 1: Walking After Midnight
Little Queen of Spades - Robert Johnson The Complete Recordings
Poison Ivy - The Coasters Poison Ivy
The Blue Ridge Mountains
High School Hop - Jerry Lee Lewis A Half Century of Hits
Mountain of Love - Johnny Rivers Secret Agent Man: The Ultimate Johnny Rivers Anthology 1964-2006
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash Ring of Fire
Give My Love to Rose -
Love's Made a Fool of You - Buddy Holly Buddy Holly Gold
God Only Knows - the Beach Boys Pet Sounds
Now imagine all these songs, one after the next. Sort of an eclectic mix by any standards. Then you hear Theme Time Radio Hour and it all fits together.

New Date
There is a new date at the end of the Canadian tour at Oneonta, NY - Alumni Field House on November 19th. Has been added to Calendar and trying to learn how to add to Maps.
More Uncut
This article is from Jim Dickinson. "I think he’s distrustful of the recording process. He doesn’t give things time to develop in a traditional fashion. He wants the first interpretation he can get of the song. I saw the same thing working with The Rolling Stones, where they were interested in the moment of creation. Keith Richards said, “That’s where the song comes alive, the first performance.” Alex Chilton was the same way."

The Band
The Band offered some of the best music around Dylan. It was melodic, rockin' and thoughtful. Have a listen to the concert. You will not be disappointed. (Tried to keep this all about Dylan but this is too good not to share.)
The album from that time frame. Wore this one out. Before The Flood [Live With The Band, 1974]

Great Covers
Goin' To Acapulco (Album Version)
by Jim James & Calexico from the - I'm Not There
soundtrack is an outstanding track that has a jaded, south-of-the-border feel that makes me want to go head south. Check it out.

Bobs Boots
This site offers huge dollops of info on Dylan bootlegs. It is a great site. Just be careful. Collecting shows can become addictive. Might offer a 12 step deal for obsessive collectors.
